Tiger Woods shocked the sporting world when he announced his intention to play in this year’s Masters tournament. Woods took Augusta National by storm on the first day of tournament play, checking in with a one-under 71 during his initial eighteen. Woods has gone on to make the cut and will participate in the final round today.

Tiger said he would not have entered the tournament if he didn’t think he could win. On the first day, that seemed like a real possibility. Eventually, the hilly course and cold weather caught up with Woods. Tiger shot a career-worst 78 and finished at 7-over in the third round.

Tiger may not win the Masters this year, but his comeback just 14 months after he nearly lost his leg in a horrific car accident. Woods brought his old competitive spirit to the tournament, as well. Tiger was caught dropping an F-bomb after a frustrating shot during the early rounds.

On the ninth hole, Tiger hit a shot a little long. As it rolled off the green, hot mics picked up the golf legend exclaiming, ‘F*ck off!” Tiger would go on to recover with a very strong finish to his first round.

Woods might not win the tournament, but he has proven that he can still compete. The windy weather and layout of Augusta may not have been ideal to return to. Tiger saw it as a challenge.

Tiger Woods has made a career out of overcoming adversity. It is a miracle that he will even finish the tournament, let alone make the cut, be competitive, or even so much as play. We will have to see how his final round goes this afternoon.
