Albert Pujols Leaves Wife After 22 Years Of Marriage

Albert Pujols heads off into the season that will mark his farewell as a single man. The MLB legend shocked his countless fans with the announcement that he is going to get divorced with his wife after spending more than 2 decades in marriage with her.

Pujols put out a statement, where he addressed the tensions in his home. He said that he’s been facing a lot of questions about his situation, and that he has made the choice to get a divorce.

I’ve been asked a lot of questions over the past few days regarding what’s been going on at home and sadly, after 22 years of marriage, I have made the decision to file for divorce from my wife, Deidre.

The timing of the announcement is unfortunate, as his wife underwent a major brain surgery for the removal of a tumor. The star acknowledged the overlap, and said that the split between the couple was not “something that just happened overnight.”

Pujols said that it was not an outcome he wanted to see while addressing himself as a devout Christian. He added that he prayed “asking the Lord for His guidance” and expressed his thankfulness for his five children from his marriage with his wife Diedre.

As a devout Christian, this is an outcome that I never wanted to see happen. For many long days and nights, I prayed, asking the Lord for His guidance. I am thankful for the five beautiful children that we brought into this world and remain committed to raising them in a loving and safe environment.

Pujols was part of the Cardianals and Angels for the most part in his career. The 2-time world champion has hit a jaw-dropping 679 home runs in his career, which is the fifth all-time high.
