Lil Wayne has been in the rap industry for over two decades and has released numerous songs during that time. When it comes to the studio, Lil Wayne is a perfectionist. Despite having 13 studio albums under his belt, the Cash Money Records star avoids resting on his laurels.

Weezy recently sat down for an interview with the I Am Athlete podcast. The episode featured Brandon Marshall, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, and Omar Kelly. Wayne was asked about how much time he spends on crafting his rhymes.

It depends on what it is. When it’s my sh-t, on god, man, I could take seven weeks on two lines. I’ve said so much that I don’t ever wanna say the same thing. Also, you have to understand your audience. There were certain things I could have said to my audience in 95 that you’re not trying to hear right now. But you know I mean I could figure it out and that’s the beauty of it.

Lil Wayne spoke earlier in the interview about his Young Money family and rap sensation Drake, who joined the company in 2009 after one of the largest bidding wars ever. Wayne also revealed he told Drake not to stop and change because he has the potential to be the ultimate artist.
