UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman is certainly one of the top fighters in the world and many consider him as the pound-for-pound world’s best fighter as well. He has competed at a high level for a long time now and always shuts up his critics. It seems Usman commented on Conor McGregor’s recent downfall as well..
Usman made his debut in MMA back in 2012 against David Glover, with the fight taking place in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance 5. Usman would get a second-round TKO win in the fight.
UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman and Conor McGregor certainly have beef with one another and it has been well documented. McGregor previously called out Usman for copying his moves and words and also called him a ‘juice head.’
While speaking with Shannon Sharpe on ‘Club Shay Shay, Kamaru Usman talked about Conor McGregor’s career in the UFC and stated that he believes McGregor’s demons are why he has not been more successful.
“It’s a difference. But I think it also depends on the individual. … Some guys, that’s what they aspire to get. So that’s everything that they do, they do it for that. Then once they get it, it’s ‘oh, I got it’. … I think it was back in the day whether it’s Sugar Ray or maybe Hagler. They said ‘things is different when you start sleeping on silk sheets’. … When you’re sleeping on that now, you know, the hustle is not the same. And now, sleeping on silk sheets, I have to say, I still want, I still have that hustle. I still want to get up and go get it.”
“So I think it’s on the individual. So with him, I don’t know why he’s not that successful. … Maybe he got a lot of different things going on. He’s got his demons that he’s battling. … But I’m not here to kick a man while he’s down.”
Dana White also recently said that Conor McGregor is nowhere near for a UFC Title fight just yet. Conor McGregor is expected to make his return by the Summer of this year, especially in July. We will have to wait and see if he will end up getting a title shot somewhere down the line or not.
