Washington Commanders player Jonathan Allen has everyone’s eyes on him, but for all the wrong reasons. The NFL star found himself on the receiving end of backlash after he tweeted out a controversial response while answering a question about which three people he would like to have dinner with, dead or alive.

Allen turned a lot heads when he picked Adolf Hitler and praised the infamous world leader as a “military genius.” It’s an unlikely choice for most, however Allen did provide an explanation as to why the genocidal, xenophobic, racist world leader was his choice along with Michael Jackson and his grandfather.

Allen wrote in his since deleted tweet, “He’s a military genius and I love military tactics,” The athlete added, “But honestly I would want to pick his brain as to why he did what he did.” Although, Allen did admit that Hitler was “evil” but this didn’t hold off the public from going after him.

After facing serious backlash over his controversial pick, Allen has reemerged with an apology after deleting the tweet. He wrote, “(Earlier) I tweeted something that probably hurt people and I apologize about what I said.” He further explained, “I didn’t express properly what I was trying to say and I realize it was dumb!”
