Spider-Man: No Way Home was a huge success. Sony is now looking to expand its Marvel character universe. Dakota Johnson recently confirmed her role as the title character in Sony’s Madame Web.

Dakota Johnson is looking more and more like she’ll be donning the tights of a superhero. Earlier this week, it was reported that the actress would play Madame Web in the upcoming Sony film. Johnson fueled the fire by posting a cryptic Instagram message that appeared to confirm the news.

The 50 Shades of Grey actress shared an Instagram story of a small spiderweb in the center of an all-black background. Madame Web debuted in the November 1980 issue of The Amazing Spider-Man as a clairvoyant. The superheroine has a habit of predicting the future of spider-themed superheroes such as Spider-Man.

She’s usually portrayed as an elderly woman suffering from myasthenia gravis, a condition that prevents nerves and muscles from communicating with one another. She is connected to a spiderweb-like life support system.
For these factors, it’s unclear whether Dakota Johnson will play the lead or what the final product will look like.

Johnson’s reported involvement with Madame Web isn’t the only film to which she has been linked this week. She has also signed a deal with Amazon to adapt toan adaptation of The End of Getting Lost.

The story is set in 1990s Europe and follows Duncan and Gina, a newlywed couple who are both on what Duncan claims is their honeymoon. When Gina gets involved in a mysterious accident, the journey takes a serious turn, and the story shifts back and forth between the past and the present.

The story alternates between the perspectives of the husband and wife, painting a proverbial portrait of ‘love’s power and dangers.’ While they travel through Europe, both of their previous lives threaten to catch up with them.

Robin Kirman’s novel will be published on February 15th. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
