T-Pain’s recent comments about celebrating Black History Month may have landed him in hot waters. That doesn’t mean the “Low” rapper is allowing all the hate and negativity get into his head.

The suddenly controversial rapper took to Twitter Thursday (February 3) to address all the buzz on the internet about his comments, saying he would take on all the criticism and be the provider of distraction for people targeting him on social media.

“I’ll happily be the provider of a distraction from whatever yall are actually mad at because I know you’re not actually mad at me. It’s impossible. You don’t even know me so how could I have that much power over your feelings? We all need a getaway and I’ll be that if you need it.”

His response came two days after the rapper provided his take on the bomb threats sent to a dozen Historically Black Colleges and Universities. “It’s always been fucked up, it’s been fucked up for hella years,” he told TMZ.

He continued, “We take it how we’ve been taking it. We going to make changes, look towards the future and stop looking at the past and we’ll make a change.” The rapper went on to say that people should just stop celebrating Black History Month and be a part of history instead of relegating it to a month.
