Gunna’s ascension to the top of the Billboard chart has prompted his contemporaries to retool in preparation for their own taste of chart dominance. After a spectacular series of features in 2021, 21 Savage, who appears on the DS4EVER single “thought I was playing,” said it was time to get back into album mode.

Gunna finally explains why one of the record’s biggest collaborations was saved for the deluxe edition, fresh off his second No. 1 album with DS4EVER. The Atlanta rapper explained to Complex why “P Power,” his widely anticipated collaboration with Drake, didn’t appear in the original collection of songs, blaming it on permission concerns.

I originally sampled Donna Summer. I don’t even know her, because I’m so young. But she was a legend and her estate couldn’t get back in time for my album.

The song aided in the takeover of the letter “P” in Hip Hop, with Kim Kardashian and social media brands joining in on the fun. Sauce Walka, who has publicly chastised Atlanta for appropriating Houston lingo like “drip” and “sauce,” has now called out Gunna for doing the same.

Gunna may be putting up a fight to keep his No. 1 perch on the leaderboard. Aside from The Weeknd’s Dawn FM, the music of Disney’s Encanto appears to be reclaiming its top rank in terms of streams.
