Abel aka The Weeknd is the most streamed artist in 2022. Despite the fact that The Weeknd stated before the release of his Dawn FM album that he was not concerned about record sales, his statistics have been stunning. The record was published on January 7th, the first week of the year, and it has been a driving force for Abel’s recent tremendous achievement.

On January 15, The Weeknd exceeded 500 million Spotify streams in 2022. He was the first musician to reach this milestone this year, thanks in large part to Dawn FM. With 154k equivalent album sales, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week.

The Weeknd rushed the release of Dawn FM in order to get it out sooner, which resulted in no physical copies being sold in the first week. As a result, streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music accounted for all album sales.

The Weeknd received 426 million Spotify streams in the seven days following the release of Dawn FM, which is the majority of the figures that led to him reaching 500 million streams so early in 2022.

Gunna (Jan. 7), Cordae (Jan. 14), and FKA Twigs (Jan. 14) are the only other notable album releases so far this year, while The Weeknd is unquestionably the most popular artist in this group.

Along with the tracks on Dawn FM, The Weeknd’s previous After Hours album, released in early 2020, featured singles including “Blinding Lights” and “Heartless.” As a result, it’s no wonder that Abel has been a streaming powerhouse since the start of the year.
