Sasha Banks has landed a big-time gig. The WWE superstar has had success in the mainstream in the past. Banks had a role in the Disney+ Star Wars hit series, “The Mandolorian.” WWE in-ring action is currently out of the question since she suffered a leg injury. Soon, though, Sasha will reach an even wider audience.

Variety has reported that Sasha Banks will star in the opening segment for ESPN’s broadcast of the College Football Playoff National Championship. The big game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs is set for an 8 PM kickoff. Banks says she is honored to take part in the rich tradition of college football.

“It’s been such an honor, I feel like everybody who has been working on the set, and the whole team have been so incredible… to walk in and to just feel so welcome, and just to see everything, and I was just like, it was amazing. I love the outfit, I love the concept, and it just fit me so well.”

ESPN and WWE have collaborated many times in the past. The network had Big E voice introductions for ESPN’s promotional hits for the Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder fight in October. Goldberg was the celebrity guest picker on the New Year’s Eve episode of ESPN College Gameday.

Sasha plays a superhero character who sparks the beginning of the national championship game. The fire is set using the final piece of confetti from last year’s playoff final in Miami. It’s a great opportunity for Sasha Banks, who had a blast being a part of it all.
