Kailyn Lowry’s new look made fans gasp for air. Internet trolls came after the Teen Mom 2 star after she got her makeup professionally done. Lowry gave fans something colorful to talk about as they accused her of trying to make her complexion darker.

Some have accused Lowry of attempting to change her skin tone while others just straight us called the make-up “ugly”. “She looks like donald trump” An Instagram user wrote. “That ain’t gonna have Chris [Lopez] turn around girl.” “It don’t even match her collar bone 😂” the comments read. There were also accusations of Lowry of blackfishing, which is when someone who is not of Black culture tries to make themselves appear to appear Black or mixed race, per CNN.

After seeing the backlash over her look, Lowry’s message for the haters on her Instagram story was “Grow up.” She explained that makeup is supposed to be heavier for TV because if she does typical everyday makeup she looks “washed out.” She also admitted that she used a filter which may have altered her skin tone.

“So between that and the filter, I promise you guys I’m not trying to be something I’m not. It was just the makeup plus the filter so I don’t know if you like, want to grow up.”

Kailyn‘s make-up artist Ingrid Valencia, has also responded to the criticism by issuing a statement on her Instagram. “…To all the trolls & Blogs commenting & reposting my video. Stop assuming. NO We were not trying to make @kaillowry look like any other type of ‘ethnicity.’ Sheesh! Y’all are quick to assume the worst!,” she wrote.

She further repeated Kailyn’s explanation of why things looked the way they did. “Have you ever heard of Contouring? How about TV MAKEUP?! A FILTER?!🙄 SMH,” Valencia added. “It’s really just makeup. If you don’t like it- too bad! Live with it & [shut up].”

The last time Kailyn was accused of black-fishing was back in 2016. The MTV star casually rocked some dreadlocks and braids.
