Evander Kane, the long-time NHL star who is currently in the minor leagues but under contract to the San Jose Sharks, is the latest athlete tied to a domestic abuse scandal. His estranged wife, Anna Kane, released video showing Evander pointing a gun at her. Kane says the entire thing is a misunderstanding.

TMZ reports that the couple is currently involved in a very ugly divorce. The footage was posted to her social media. She says it shows Evander with a loaded gun pointed at her.

Kane wears a white button-down shirt as he enters the garage with the weapon. The camera catches the moment he raises it in Anna’s direction. She captioned the video, explaining the scene and calling him a psychopath.

Evander Kane’s attorneys stated that the videos were taken out of context. Both Kane and Anna were allegedly participating in a professional photo shoot. The hockey star believes it is an attempt to soil his reputation. His attorney spoke on the matter to TMZ Sports.

“She posted videos, taken intentionally out of context, from a professional photo shoot both parties participated in back in 2020.

Her conduct, unfortunately, is consistent with her prior actions throughout this [divorce] case. Each time, we hope it will be the last. Each time, we strive to keep the peace and put the best foot forward. Each time, Evander is exonerated and Ms. Kane’s allegations are unsubstantiated.

Evander continues to hope Ms. Kane gets the help she needs, and requests privacy for everyone involved.”

While Evander Kane is currently toiliing in the minor-league American Hockey League, his career has been a stellar one. In 769 games played in the National Hockey League, Kane has scored 264 goals, tallied 242 assists, and collected nearly 1,000 penalty minutes. As the messy divorce continues, we will certainly hear more about this incident.
