The legal team of Tory Lanez has agreed to a preliminary hearing after the Canadian rapper did not reach a plea deal in a felony assault case involving Megan Thee Stallion, according to Complex.
Rolling Stone earlier reported on the 29-year-old not meeting the November 3 deadline to reach a plea deal. There are reports that the rapper is in talks about a possible settlement with prosecutors.
Shaw Holley, the rapper’s defense lawyer, will attend the preliminary hearing on behalf of her client. The hearing has been scheduled for December 14. According to Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Katha Ta, the hearing will include 90 minutes of testimony.
“As in every case, the lawyers for the parties discuss the possibility of resolving the case. This case is no different. That said, our position as to what did and did not happen in this matter remains unchanged.”
The hip hop artist is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her feet. The incident reportedly happened during the early hours of July 12, 2020. Before the alleged shooting, the two had attended and left a party together in Hollywood.
Megan spoke about the incident in a video. She said she was thankful that the bullets didn’t pierce through her bones, adding that she underwent surgery to get the bullets from inside her feet.
