Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been looking forward to the third installment in the Ant-Man saga since Ant-Man and the Wasp released back in 2018. The delays have been hard on MCU fans. Of course, Ant-Man isn’t the only movie affected.

Recently, Bill Murray accidentally let news slip that he had been cast in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. During a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance to talk about his latest movie, The French Dispatch, Murray talked about the rumors of his involvement. His response was as clear as mud.

“I’m not supposed to, I’m not supposed to say — they’re making a movie. It has Paul Rudd, he plays Ant-Man, there’s Evangeline Lily playing the Wasp and Michael Douglas, I forget what his name is in the movie, and Michelle Pfeiffer, they’re all in the movie. But I am not at liberty to talk about it.”

This sounds like a classic case of Murray being Murray. If you’re going to have him appear in a movie, let Bill do his thing. If that includes vague yet obvious statements about his involvement in the project, so be it. Vague, ironic behavior has been the hallmark of Bill Murray’s late career.

It’s unknown who Murray is playing in the film. His role may be a simple cameo. Nobody knows if or when he’s been on set. Fans may have to wait for the release of the film on July 28, 2023.

Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly and features Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, and, possibly, Bill Murray. The first two Ant-Man films brought in a combined $1.14 billion at the worldwide box office.
