Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is collaborating with his Jumanji director in the hopes of making some Christmas box office magic. After grossing $1.76 billion with Jumanji, The Rock is once again teaming up with director Jake Kasdan. Rocky’s Seven Bucks Productions is working on Red One, a new holiday movie for Amazon Studios.

According to Deadline, the new holiday flick is a globe-trotting action adventure comedy. Amazon and Seven Bucks hope the movie creates a new holiday genre universe that other movies and businesses will grow from.

The all-star production team has an ambitious vision for the project. Building a new holiday multiverse starring The Rock is nothing if not an interesting proposition. The project gives off some Christmas Vacation vibes.

The film is set to begin shooting in 2022 for a holiday 2023 release. Kasdan will serve as producer. Johnson, ex-wife and business partner Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will co-produce on behalf of Seven Bucks.

The Rock’s next feature is a Netflix movie called Red Notice. The film co-stars Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds along with Johnson. It will play select theaters starting November 5 and premier on Netflix on the 12th.

Dwayne Johnson was recently nominated for several People’s Choice Awards. He also hopes to re-launch the XFL, which he now co-owns with Dany. There is still no word on if or when he plans to return to professional wrestling.
