Chris Cullen has written a tell-all account of the history of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In Not All Diamonds and Rosé, the former RHOBH executive producer dropped some major dirt.

Cullen wrote that Lisa Vanderpump regularly manipulated her co-stars to perform dirty work on her behalf. The nine-year veteran RHOBH producer revealed the first target of Vanderpump in the new book.

“In hindsight, Brandi [Glanville] was the first example of Lisa recruiting other people to do her dirty work for her,”

Cullen went on to explain that Vanderpump had “an ax to grind” with Adrienne Maloof after an accusation of leaking stories to tabloids during the season 2 reunion. Lisa convinced Glanville to mention Maloof’s secret that her twin sons were born to a surrogate mother.

Glanville confirmed the story in an interview for the book. Cullen said that Vanderpump wanted all the dirty gossip and secrets that the show has become known for to be featured, but that she didn’t want to do it herself.

Emotional manipulation is not a new strategy for reality television. In fact, it’s the entire premise of the genre. It is a little different when you can’t even do the manipulating yourself. There was some major second and third-hand manipulation going on during RHOBH, and Lisa Vanderpump was behind it.
