Kate Beckinsale made a name for herself in films such as Pearl HarborVan Helsing, the Underworld series and more. Kate Beckinsale was recently rushed to a hospital in Las Vegas and that certainly worried fans quite a lot. Thankfully, her condition has improved since then.

The Oxford-educated actress, who can speak fluent Russian, recently revealed that she has an IQ of 152. This put her in the top 1% of the population as it was a highly gifted score. It seems she received a lot of hate for this reveal.

While speaking to Howard Stern, Kate Beckinsale was asked if her high intelligence had been an advantage. She stated that instead of making her happier, it has been a handicap more than anything.

“Every single doctor, every single person I’ve ever come across has said, ‘You’d be so much happier if you were 30 percent less smart.’ It’s no good to me, though. It’s really not helpful to me in my career. I just think it might have been a handicap actually.”

Despite this, Kate Beckinsale took to Instagram recently and fired back at haters for revealing her high IQ. Kate Beckinsale made it clear that she will not be dumbing herself down and is unapologetic about being intelligent.

”Are we really jumping on women for answering a question truthfully about their intelligence or education? Are we really still requiring women to dumb themselves down in order not to offend?

I went to an all girls school where I never had to worry about raising my hand making me possibly unfeminine-and I went to a university in which intellectual debate was not only encouraged, but the entire point of attending. I am very aware how lucky I am to have had those experiences.”

Kate Beckinsale went on to claim that the reaction to her comments was evidence how of disadvantageous her intellect was for her in Hollywood. She also made it clear IQ doesn’t mean much.

”When I said it has been a handicap in Hollywood it’s PRECISELY because being female AND having an opinion often has to be quite carefully packaged so as not to be offensive or, as in this case, deliberately twisted into signifying ones perceived superiority or arrogance.

IQ doesn’t actually mean s–t . But stop perfomatively supporting women while pulling crummy s–t like this.”

Kate Beckinsale prefers to remain true to herself than ever dumb herself down for anyone. We applaud her for taking this stance and hope she inspires others to do the same as well. However, the stigma she faces is unlikely to change anytime soon.
