Superman is most definitely one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, spanning decades and multiple iterations. He has been present in various mediums and also remained a major topic of discussion. Now it seems Superman will be undergoing a massive change.

DC recently revealed that Superman will be bisexual in the latest issue of the comic series. This was celebrated within the LGBTQ+ community, but not everyone was happy with this change at all.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Comics, who are the publishers and rights-holders of the Superman character, will be making a huge change to Superman. For decades, Superman has stood for “truth, justice and the American way.” Now that will be changing.

DC Comics stated that they will be removing ‘The American Way’ as Superman will now stand for  “truth, justice … and a better tomorrow.” While speaking during the company’s virtual DC FanDome event, DC’s chief creative officer and publisher Jim Lee said that the change reflects a broader vision for Superman.

“To better reflect the storylines that we are telling across DC and to honor Superman’s incredible legacy over 80 years of building a better world, Superman’s motto is evolving.

Superman has long been a symbol of hope who inspires people, and it is that optimism and hope that powers him forward with this new mission statement.”

The world of comic books is ever-changing and with it, a change in iconic characters is inevitable. In good time people will learn to accept the changes instead of being against them as well.
