Ashanti is having a productive interaction with people in her DMs. The 41-year-old says it definitely feels like “a party going on” in her Instagram chat box, which is flooded with people trying to reach out to her for potential collaborations.

In an interview with Black America Web, the “Honey Girls” actress opened up about the kind of direct messages she received. Her inbox takes a lot of punishment on a daily basis, and her star power is to blame.

“Baby!… Listen. It’s a sea of blue checks. It’s a sea of not blue checks. Nah, but it’s kinda crazy. It’s definitely a party going on in my DMs.”

“Sometimes it’s late, sometimes it’s a little late and it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe a year ago!’ Cause I wasn’t a huge DMer. I would every so often, but there are some really important ones that I answered and they turned into records.”

“There was a DM, yeah, like a mutual that put that together, then I got the phone call from Moneybagg and we worked it all out,” the R&B songstress said.

One of the DMs led to a collaboration with Moneybagg Yo and the two worked together to create a remix of Moneybagg’s hit single “Wockesha.” Ashanti says a mutual contact paved the way for her collaboration. Many more could come as well, but she’ll have to be diligent about checking her inbox.
