Timothee Chalamet has given a response to the sexual assault allegations against costar Armie Hammer, according to Us. The Dune actor recently shared his thoughts on a rape allegation brought forth against his “Call Me By Your Name” costar.

“I totally get why you’re asking that. But it’s a question worthy of a larger conversation, and I don’t want to give you a partial response,” the 25-year-old told Time in an interview.

Hammer was accused of rape by a woman in March. Effie Angelova claimed the actor “violently raped me for over four hours” in 2017. She also went public about her alleged sexual relationship with the 35-year-old actor. According to Angelova, the relationship began after the two met via Facebook and continued seeing each other intimately on and off till 2020.

Moreover, she negated the “The Man From U.N.C.L.E” star’s previous claims that his sexual activities that took place while Hammer was married to Elizbeth Chambers were “completely consensual in that they were fully discussed, agreed upon and mutually participatory.”

The 25-year-old alleged that the actor employed “manipulation tactics in order to exert control over me until I started to lose myself. [He] would often test my devotion to him, crossing my boundaries as he became increasingly more violent [and] used me mentally, emotionally, sexually.”

Hammer issued a statement through his attorney following the allegations. The statement read:  “With the truth on his side, Mr. Hammer welcomes the opportunity to set the record straight. From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with Ms. Angelova — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory.

“Ms. Angelova’s attention seeking and ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve.”
