The Minnesota Vikings will face the Detroit Lions today, and the game is about to kick off without a key member of the Vikings squad in tow.

NBC Sports reports that Running back Dalvin Cook will not be in their lineup for Sunday’s game. The lead rusher was questionable on Friday, and then Coach Mike Zimmer said that his ankle was feeling better. Apparently, it wasn’t up to par on game day.

Cook didn’t practice all week and he was declared inactive about 90-minutes prior to kickoff. Needless to say, this is a big blow to the Vikings’ game plan.

This is actually the second time in three weeks that saw Cook on the sidelines. He played at less than 100% last week against the Cleveland Browns, but he was able to get through the game.

Alexander Mattison will get Cook’s spot as starting running back. We will have to see how this changes the Vikings’ offense, because they did rely on Cook’s strong rushing abilities on a frequent basis. Anyone who has Cook in their fantasy football team is probably having a bad day as well.
