John Cena’s Success In Acting Does Not Surprise CM Punk

John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and carried the company on his back throughout the PG era. From 2017 John Cena became a part-timer in WWE and has appeared sporadically due to his busy schedule in Hollywood.

John Cena has certainly kept himself busy this year with a slew of releases such as F9: The Fast Saga, The Suicide Squad and Hulu’s most-ever viewed original film Vacation Friends. He is also set to star in the Peacemaker spinoff series next year. 

While speaking with ET Canada, CM Punk talked about John Cena’s acting career and stated that he was impressed by Cena’s acting skills and added that he wasn’t surprised.

“Cena has always been that funny guy. I always thought behind the scenes, and I think anybody who has worked with him always thought. A lot of the guys at that top-level in WWE may not want to admit it, but alls we are are theatre actors.

I read James Gunn said that John Cena was the best improv actor he’s ever worked with. That does not surprise me in the least. We do it every week for decades. When we transition to film, I think people are pleasantly surprised like, ‘Oh wow, I thought you were just going to be this muscled up stiff guy.’ I’m not surprised that John is killing it.”

CM Punk himself has a career in acting and hopes to become a memorable actor somewhere down the line as well. Batista certainly believes Punk will be bigger in acting than pro wrestling.
