Khabib Nurmagomedov will always be regarded as one of the best UFC fighters to have competed in the MMA world. Khabib ended his career after his match against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in 2020.

Since then there had been a lot of speculation regarding him returning to the UFC as he was still undefeated, with many believing he would come back to make his record an impressive 30-0. However, Dana White had confirmed back in March that the Russian fighter has retired for good.

The Eagle has defeated the best of the best the MMA world has to offer and that includes Conor McGregor, as the two had an intense fight at UFC 229. It saw Khabib tapping out Conor McGregor and winning in a decisive fashion.

While speaking during a live Q&A session, Khabib Nurmagomedov was asked whether beating ‘The Notorious’ was harder than he had expected. Khabib admitted it was not easy for him to beat McGregor but stated that McGregor instantly tapping out to him showed McGregor’s weakness.

“If I’m gonna be honest, it was not easy. But only one thing I don’t expect is like, he tapped very easy. Honestly, I’m gonna be honest. I just catch him and he tap. You know, it was like, you bring like 20,000 people from Ireland to Vegas to support you. And in front of everybody, you tap. It’s like, this one (was easy). Other one – fight, like fighter, like skills – He was good. You know, I feel he was preparing for defense on my wrestling, grappling, like everywhere. But the way how he tap it showed his weakness.”

Since then Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have had a lot of bad blood and that is unlikely to end anytime soon.
