Jay-Z is regarded as one of the most legendary rappers in the Hip-Hop world. On top of his musical prowess, Hov is also a smart businessman and is worth over a billion dollars for good reason. He also realizes that people love to gamble.
Jay-Z was among the names linked to a takeover of the NFL’s Denver Broncos in a lucrative $4 billion. This would have made Jay-Z the first-ever black owner of an NFL team.
Unfortunately, that ultimately did not happen as it was said that Jay-Z had no interest in investing so much money into the Denver Broncos in the first place. Instead, he decided to invest a lot of money into a smart-home company.
According to ABC News, Jay-Z’s Team Roc has filed a lawsuit against the Kansas City Police Department on September 20th. A lawsuit filed in the district court of Wyandotte County, Kansas accused KCKPD of covering up alleged police misconduct.
Team Roc filed a lawsuit to be given access to records that would shed light on complaints filed against members of KCKPD’s investigative division, including documents related to the training and supervision of officers. Team Roc attorney Alex Spiro also released a statement regarding e matter.
“Because of the [Kansas] Public Records Act that allows interested parties to look at various states and government documents, we’re allowed to see certain files and how the government handled certain issues. The government has attempted to block our access to those files, and so we’re suing to see what they don’t want us to see.”
It was further stated that KCKPD agreed to provide documents “pertaining to the complaints made against members of the Investigative Division,” but has “refused to produce documents pertaining to any steps that the City has taken in response to those complaints, including any investigations or disciplinary proceedings initiated as a result of the complaints.” We will keep you updated on this ongoing case.
