Reality television brings in a lot of viewers, but judge shows are on another level of daytime television. Steve Harvey is about to trade his microphone for a gavel as he takes the bench for his own show.

According to Variety, ABC has greenlit “Judge Steve Harvey,” a show where the legendary comedian will judge actual cases brought to his show. Those cases are typically filed with small claims court, but we’re not certain about the show’s actual set up yet.

The Celebrity Family Feud host has been tapped to host this new show. The working title is “Judge Steve Harvey,” but that could always change. 10 episodes were ordered to kick things off.

The show is planned to debut sometime in 2022, and it will be produced by Walt Disney Television’s new alternative unit. Casting is currently underway and they are looking “nationwide for roommates, friends, siblings, neighbors, co-workers and more that have humor, heart and passion who are ready to settle their case by a legendary celebrity.”

Filming for the new series is slated to begin in October, and it will join a plethora of current judge shows. That can be a hard market to break into, but Steve Harvey already has a huge fan base of loyal viewers that he is sure to bring with him.

Let’s get to know each other. Me? Well, I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University, but I don’t really like to talk about that. I was a stand-up comedian for eight years, but I don’t really like to talk about that either. I write a lot. I once worked for a company that writes blurbs for online gambling games. Those paid $.75 each. So, if you frequent that kind of thing, then you’re welcome for the description for Biker Chicken Slots or Crazy Granny’s Scratchers. I wish I had more to tell, but due to my crippling anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, that has become increasingly worse over the years, I tend to keep to myself.
