Eminem is all about celebrating the past and those who blazed the trail before him. LL Cool J’s contributions to rap music were not lost on Em, and he regards him as one of the legendary names from the past.

During Slim Shady’s Behind The Music on Paramount+, Eminem had a chance to show off a chain he has in honor of Cool J. This was a gift from the rap pioneer himself, something that Em always wanted. It meant a lot to Marshall Mathers as he told the story.

“Since I was a little kid I always wanted a chain. I was recording with Rick Rubin and I was like, ‘Yo, can you ask LL where he got his chains from?’ So he had these made and sent them to me.”

Eminem said of LL Cool J, “He was the first rock star of rap. I’m like, ‘Yo, I wanted that.’ That is what made me actually want to rap.” Those are some pretty amazing words from someone like Eminem.

Slim revealed that the same two chains that LL sent him also appear in the Bad video. That was a mind blowing thing for Eminem to discover.

LL Cool J hasn’t really been in the rap game for a while, but you can never count out the chance for a future collaboration. It sounds like Eminem might be more than down to take a project with one of his rap heroes.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
