The long-standing rivalry between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier remains one of the most highly discussed topics in the MMA world. It culminated in their fight at UFC 264 on July 10th.
The main event truly had a big fight feel as many fans wondered just who would come out on top. In the end, Dustin Poirier would win the fight in a shocking manner after Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round. Poirier won the fight via TKO.
The Notorious One went under the knife in a 3.5-hour-long surgery for his fractured tibia. After the surgery was over, Conor McGregor provided an update on his condition, stating that he will be on crutches for 6 weeks.
McGregor took to his Instagram and uploaded a video where he bragged that McGregor will have an unbreakable titanium leg and will build himself back up again.
“I would have never committed to going under the knife unless something like this has happened. So something like this has happened, I’m going in, I’m getting exactly what I needed. And what I needed was a titanium shin bone. So now I’ve got a titanium rod down the knee. From the knee to the ankle. And the doctor said it’s unbreakable. So once I build back you know…first of all I’ll manage the incision, the cut. You know, make sure it doesn’t get affected, keep the health on it. Keep building back that way. Then I have to start playing with the balance man, I have to stand on it again. Then I have to balance on the single leg again, then I’ll build the strength and then I’ve got an unbreakable titanium leg.”
It was previously reported that Conor McGregor will be out of action until next year. We will have to wait and see what shape Conor McGregor will be in once he returns to the Octagon.
