Madonna broke lots of ground during her career and the 62-year-old megastar is still on top of pop culture. She saw Lil Nas X kissing his backup dancer at the BET Awards and she realizes how much of a stir it caused. Then she created some for herself.
The OG Material Girl posted a slide on her Instagram Story to reflect the idea that she was being copied once again. Plenty of people have emulated Madonna, because why wouldn’t they want to be like the best? This new attempt to make a statement was met with some backlash.
Madonna posted an image of Lil Nas X kissing one of his backup dancers along with another photo of herself making out with Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003.
“Did it first,” was the one and only caption Madonna decided to use. This was met with some backlash from fans who accused the icon of queerbaiting. Others got the joke, but there were some who were offended by what Madonna did in her Instagram story.
Madonna has not publicly responded to this new controversy, but she might not even hear about it considering how Madonna lives in her own world now. At least she was able to pay attention to this highlight from the BET Awards this year.
