Alberto Del Rio, WWE’s first Mexican-born World Champion, also has an MMA career under his belt. He has a record of 9-6 in the MMA world as a fighter, but those days are over now. He has confirmed that his days are done in the cage.

While speaking to Bodyslam.net’s The Push podcast, Alberto El Patron was asked about his future MMA aspirations. He explained that there is no connection to the MMA world anymore. He was working with Combate Americas, but they decided not to pay him, and now he is fighting that as well. When it comes to fighting again, Del Rio made that very clear.

“I have intentions of fighting again. This is what I love. Pro wrestling is my passion.”

Alberto Del Rio was also not happy about the allegations against him that derailed his pro wrestling career. His ex fiancé made statements to the police that he kidnapped and sexually assaulted her, but she later recanted them. As Alberto Del Rio re-starts his pro wrestling journey, he is certainly not looking back to MMA.

H Jenkins

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
