Pop sensation Britney Spears is certainly a controversial figure in the music world, going back to her 2007 meltdown and her father then moving to form a conservatorship around Spears’ estate.
Britney Spears finally spoke out against her father’s conservatorship on June 23rd addressing a Los Angeles Superior Court judge via video. For a long time, Britney Spears has been working hard to get her father out of her life. Spears compared her father to a “sex trafficker” and said that “he loved” having control over her.
Spears also stated that she would like to “sue” her family and that “they should go to jail.” Spears added that she wants the “abusive” conservatorship to end “without being evaluated.”
There are thousands of abusive conservatorships … they need to be reminded that they actually work for me.”
Now it seems her father Jamie Spears has finally reacted to her scathing comments regarding his conservatorship. According to Us Weekly, Vivian Thoreen, an attorney for the father gave a statement from him after Britney requested for her conservatorship to end and said she felt “enslaved” by him.
“Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”
During this ongoing situation, Britney Spears’ fans have been showing support through the #FreeBritney movement they started. We certainly hope Britney Spears can be free from her father soon enough.
