John Cena is undoubtedly one of the best Superstars to have ever stepped foot inside a WWE ring. He is a 16-time World Champion and was the face of the company for well over a decade. He has not been seen in the company since WrestleMania 36 last year, but that is likely to change soon.
Roman Reigns is currently the WWE Universal Champion and undoubtedly one of the best Superstars in the company, with his new heel character going a long way to prove just how good it can be.
For many years fans always wanted John Cena to become a heel and wondered how WWE would have booked such a run. It seems it could finally happen.
While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, John Cena was asked if him portraying the role of a villain in Fast and Furious 9 is as close to a heel turn that fans will see.
John Cena stated that he was hesitant to turn heel in the past as WWE didn’t have an alternative to him. However, now that the company is laying the groundwork to make Roman Reigns the future of WWE, he might become a heel.
“I think this is the beginning to showcase the fact that it’s possible. As WWE invests and builds its roster, it has a wealth of talent and truly has many anchors to the ship now. Certainly Roman being a very, very marketable and definitive star.
“I think the reason for me not to explore that side is because WWE didn’t feel confident they had any alternative. And I respect that business choice, I really do. But now with them really laying their foundation for the future, setting up life for the next decade or so, maybe… maybe. I don’t know.”
With John Cena likely to return in July, when live crowds finally make a return to the company, we wonder whether he will be coming back as a heel or not. Fans would certainly be excited for that.
