John Cena hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring since WrestleMania last year, but that could change very soon. He stayed away due to other projects, the Peacemaker HBO Max series was filming in Canada during WrestleMania 37, so he missed the show. He will likely be back by SummerSlam.

Canada has very strict re-entry rules with it comes to COVID protocol. Cena would have needed to quarantine for two weeks every time he wanted to make a WWE appearance for WrestleMania. The Peacemaker production couldn’t afford to miss that much time with the series’ star.

Jon Alba reports that Cena vs Roman Reigns is targeted for SummerSlam. He also confirmed that Cena’s obligations with the Peacemaker series will be up at the beginning of July.

I can confirm, after speaking with multiple sources, Roman Reigns vs. John Cena is the targeted main event at this moment.

Cena’s schedule clears up in the beginning of July, which would allow him to return to #WWE in time for the return of fans. I believe it was @AndrewZarian who first mentioned this possibility a few weeks ago.

It’s unclear how many WWE appearances John Cena will make, but the company’s return to live crowds might give him extra encouragement to mark out some extra dates. We’ll have to see how his match against Roman Reigns goes at SummerSlam.

What’s your take on John Cena’s return to WWE? How long will he be back for? Sound off in the comments!
