Fans Can’t Believe Chadwick Boseman Didn’t Get 2021 Best Actor Oscar

Many fans were eagerly anticipating this year’s Oscars for one reason only and that was for the late Chadwick Boseman to win the Best Actor award. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened as Anthony Hopkins won the award instead for The Father.

In a first, the order of the awards was changed, with Best Picture being announced before the lead actress and actor categories.

Many fans believed that Boseman would get the honor to close out the ceremony but were utterly shocked when Hopkins won and wasn’t even in attendance to accept the award.

This was Boseman’s only nomination at the Academy Awards. He was up for Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Naturally, many fans took to Twitter and voiced their displeasure at Boseman being snubbed. It isn’t known why Boseman didn’t receive the honor as many expected him to and this ultimately made the Oscars look bad in the eyes of many.

“They build the entire show around a Chadwick Boseman ending and then Anthony Hopkins won and didn’t show up.”

“How do you rearrange a traditional #Oscars award order for Best Actor to close? Presumably to honor Chadwick? Then Chadwick doesn’t win, and the person who does in Anthony Hopkins isn’t even there to CLOSE THE SHOW? How did they make Moonlight debacle look like the Mona Lisa?”

I never truly believed that the producers of the show didn’t know who was gonna win the awards before they were announced until now
