American singer, actress, and producer, Selena Gomez has been one of the most successful pop stars of the past decade. Although, she has a slew of successful music albums and singles in her bag, she thinks she’s not getting the credit or respect she deserves, which has left her contemplating leaving music.

In her recent Vogue cover story, Gomez says:

“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough. I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”

Gomez drew back when asked about it again and replied that she needed to be careful and made it clear that she’d like to spend more time producing and giving herself “a real shot at acting.”

After the story become public, “WE LOVE YOU SELENA” became a trending topic on Twitter as Selenators poured out their support for the artist.

Gomez certainly has a life outside of music. Her HBO Max series Selena + Chef is going well. She is also one of the most-followed people on Instagram and she’s got her Rare Beauty cosmetics company, among many other endeavors. We are definitely going to miss her music and wish her the best for all her future undertakings.
