Eddie Murphy is a veteran actor in Hollywood, having made his return to acting with 2019’s hit film Dolemite Is My Name. It didn’t stop there as Murphy then starred in the long-awaited sequel to the smash-hit classic 80s Coming To America, the sequel aptly-named Coming 2 America.

It released on Amazon Prime recently and was met with mixed reviews, but Murphy showed that he still has it as far as being funny is concerned.

Murphy had quit acting in movies for a long time after a string of critically-panned movies such as Norbit, The Adventures Of Pluto Nash, and Meet Dave. He won the Razzie for Worst Actor of the decade due to the aforementioned movies.

While speaking to comedian Marc Meron on the WTF podcast, Eddie Murphy admitted that he stopped acting in movies in a slew of bad movies.

”I was making shitty movies. I was like, ‘This shit ain’t fun. They’re giving me Razzies…Motherfuckers gave me the ‘worst actor ever’ Razzie. [So I thought], ‘Maybe it’s time to take a break.’”

Murphy added that he planned on taking a break for a year but it ultimately became six years.

“I’m sitting on the couch, and I could sit on the couch and not get off it, but I don’t want to the last bunch of shit they see me do [to be] bullshit.”

Eddie Murphy had earlier mentioned he plans on making a comeback to stand-up comedy. We will have to see how that turns out for him.
