Meek Mill caused controversy when he dropped a line about Kobe Bryant. This song “Lil Baby” got the Philly rapper in hot water with fans over his distasteful lyrics.

Some fans brought up how Drake dissed Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa in “Stay Schemin’,” a song he did with Rick Ross and French Montana. The big question is how that situation went down.

Drake used a lyric about Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant’s divorce in the 2012 song. It was reported by TMZ in 2011 that Vanessa filed for divorce after catching him cheating. Drake implied in that lyric that Vanessa didn’t deserve half of what Kobe Bryant made as she was requesting in the divorce.

“Kobe about to lose a hundred fifty M’s/Kobe my n***a I hated it had to be him””B**ch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym/(Huh!? b**ch you weren’t with me shooting in the gym)”

Vanessa and Kobe later reconciled and stayed together. She broke this new on Instagram in 2013, but how did she react to the Drake diss? She had a comment that seemingly addressed what Drizzy said.

“I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship.”

“Just shows how gullible they are. I don’t need to be in the gym. I’m raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life. […]”Vanessa added “I really wish people would stop THINK and then realize that they are being sucked into someone’s clear intention to monetize and gain attention off of our family’s heartache.””This is real life. I hold down our home life so my husband can focus on his career. It’s a partnership.”

Drake later apologized to Vanessa Bryant for those lyrics. Vanessa also wrote a message about how Drake and Kobe weren’t friends and the apology came in the form of a text from Drake’s manager.

“Since my husband is isn’t friends with Drake, we received a text of an apology forwarded from his manager. It’s done and over with and it’s now time for people to THINK before speaking.”

Drake later publicly apologized over the line about Vanessa Bryant. He said that he never intended to offend anyone, especially Vanessa. He chalked it up to being a 25-year-old with “way too much income coming in.” He also said that Kobe “will always be a friend and icon to me.”
