Tragedy struck an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. A gunman opened fire on unsuspecting students and staff at Robb Elementary school, leaving 19 children and 2 adults dead. Republican Congressman Ronny Jackson seemingly blamed rap music and video games for the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

In an interview with Fox News, the Texas congressman rejected the necessity for gun legislation. Instead, when discussing the shooting that killed 19 children, Ronny Jackson slammed rap music and video games. Ronny Jackson then said that pointing fingers in the aftermath of a tragedy was inappropriate.

When I grew up, things were different. There was a focus on family and community and church … And I just think that kids are exposed to all kinds of horrible stuff nowadays too. I look back and I think about the horrible stuff that they hear when they listen to rap music, the video games that they watch from a really early age with all of this horrible violence and stuff. And I just think that they have this access to the internet on a regular basis, which is just not good for kids, I don’t think. I think we need stop at this particular point. Nobody needs to be pointing fingers too much right now.

He didn’t seem to notice the irony in his statements. Salvador Ramos was identified as the shooter who opened fire at Uvalde’s Robb Elementary. Law officers shot and killed the 18-year-old suspect.
