The Weeknd’s fame in the music industry has reached unprecedented heights. Despite his exceptional talents, he is nevertheless a human only. Recently, the Weeknd abruptly ended his Los Angeles concert in the middle of his performance.

The Weeknd’s Saturday night show at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles ended just after 9:30 p.m. The musician, who was finishing off a two-night run at the stadium, said he had lost his voice and didn’t feel he could provide the show that people had paid for. “I don’t know what just happened… but I just lost my voice,” he told the crowd from the stage.

This is killing me, I don’t want to stop the show but I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now. I’m gonna make sure everybody’s good — you’ll get your money back — I’ll do a show real soon for you guys. But I wanted to come out and personally apologize.

You know how much this kills me, I’m sorry. I love you thank you so much.

Soon after, the house lights turned on, and audience members were divided as to whether they should begin making their way to the exits or wait for the show to restart. The show, which was scheduled to begin at 9 p.m., was being filmed for a scene in the upcoming HBO Max show “The Idol,” starring Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp. She took the stage in a white gown and an updo, delivering key lines from one of the show’s penultimate moments.

I’ve had a tough year. This world can be a cruel and unforgiving place and there were moments when I didn’t know if I was gonna make it.

The Weeknd made his debut at about 9:17 p.m., but his voice cracked clearly when he welcomed the nearly 70,000 people in attendance. Before he had to stop the show short, the artists managed to get through four songs. Later, the singer clarified the situation in an Instagram post.

My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated. Felt it go and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.

The show featured two opening acts, prolific producer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Dean, as well as DJ Kaytranada. Except for a canceled show in Toronto owing to an internet outage that affected all of Canada the “After Hours” tour had mainly gone ahead without a hitch.

The Weeknd’s hometown performance is rescheduled for September 22nd. There is no confirmation on a makeup date for L.A. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
