A rapper’s name means a lot to them. Artists seldom use their government name, for obvious reasons. This also gives them a chance to express themselves a bit. It turns out that Roddy Ricch almost went by a much different name.

While speaking to Big Boy in a radio interview, Roddy Ricch revealed that he almost went by the rap name “Lil Bird.” Of course, he didn’t go with that name, but it was enough of a possibility for him to remember all these years later.

“Like, from bird?” asked Big Boy.

“Yeah, Lil Bird,” confirmed Roddy.

“Damn, you was like, ‘man, eff this lil stuff,’ you know what I’m saying?,” said Big Boy.

“Nah, I still go by it sometimes!” replied Roddy.

Lil Bird is still a pretty dope name, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see someone snatch that up later on and use it as their own moniker. If anything, Roddy Ricch might have an alter-ego he can switch to if he ever wants to mix things up.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
