“Mean Girls” managed to make a place for itself in almost everyone-who-watched-it hearts. The film starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried in lead roles. However, according to earlier reports, the original girls were all set to star in a new Mean Girls movie that is in the works but now it appears that OG cast members might not return.

According to a recent Page Six report, the original Plastics may not appear in the forthcoming Mean Girls movie adaptation based on the Broadway musical. The publication stated on February 22 that agreement over the contract had stalled because Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert were given a “disrespectful” salary offer to appear in the Paramount+ movie.

“Paramount Pictures doesn’t want to pay the girls what they are worth,” a production source told. “All four girls were willing to come back, but Paramount has not been respectful of what they are worth.”

In contrast to Lindsay, Amanda, and Lacey, Page Six’s source claimed that Rachel was “offered a larger part” to come back for the film musical, though even her deal hasn’t been finalized. The Paramount+ movie will star Tina Fey, who also wrote the musical and the movie, as Ms. Norbury. According to Page Six, Rachel and the other women’s offer was “a fraction” of what Tina is paid. Tina was reportedly offered “a seven-figure” deal to return.

If they do appear in the remake, Rachel, Lindsay, Amanda, and Lacey won’t be playing the same parts they did in the first movie. The Sex Lives of College Girls actor Renee Rapp, who previously played Regina in the Broadway musical, has taken over Rachel’s former role as Regina George. Angourie Rice, Avantika, and Bebe Wood, who play Cady Herron, Karen Smith, and Gretchen Weiners, respectively, will co-star with Renee.

The source for Page Six added, “Whether they appear in a cameo appearance or they have six pages of script, it doesn’t matter — [the money offered] is disrespectful.” Tim Meadows, who reprises his role as Principal Duvall, is the only other original cast member who has formally signed on to the new movie in addition to Tina.
