In 2011, Juelz Santana, the renowned American rapper, experienced a tumultuous setback when his New Jersey recording studio was raided by the police. The operation led to the confiscation of drugs and weapons, resulting in the artist’s arrest. Santana, whose real name is LaRon Louis James, faced charges of possession of a firearm and a controlled substance, and ultimately served two years in prison.

Santana spoke about the raid in a recent interview with Off The Porch where he claimed that the cops deleted 100s of songs off his hard drive.

“The police took my hard drives. I had over 100 songs and they erased them. It was crazy. They raided my studio, they took my hard drive. When I got the hard drives back them shits was empty. Over 100 songs gone.”

Juelz then said that he attempted to re-record some of the deleted tracks but since he never wrote the lyrics down, this task proved challenging.

“I mean some of ’em I did. There was some of ’em I knew. Cause at that time I had my own studio, so I was just creating and moving on to the next record. So unless it was a record that I put out or we were just constantly listening to for whatever reason, I didn’t write nothing. Once I laid it down I had it down.”

He continued to mention how this incident discouraged him as he had put a lot of work into getting the songs recorded.

“That discouraged me, that was around the time I shut down a lot. It was really discouraging because you know to lose that amount of records that I worked so hard on and was getting ready to put out. It was crazy.”

The rapper is currently working on his Gangsta Grillz mixtape We In Motion and was also recently spotted with Rick Ross as the two rappers filmed a music video for an upcoming track they have in the works. Santana has so far hinted at appearances from Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, Chief Keef, and Joyner Lucas but more details about the mixtape are yet to be known. Until then, stay tuned to Thirsty For News.
