Oprah Winfrey is making it clear: rumors that she received $1 million to host a town hall for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign are completely false. The legendary talk show host didn’t mince words when addressing the claims, calling them “BS.”
In recent reports, specifically one from the Washington Examiner, it was alleged that Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, secured a lucrative payment for organizing a star-studded virtual event in September for the Democratic nominee. The event featured celebrity cameos from Meryl Streep, Bryan Cranston, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, and Tracee Ellis Ross.
But when asked about the alleged payday via TMZ, Oprah was quick to shut down the speculation. “The reports are not true,” she firmly stated, adding, “I was paid nothing — ever.”
Oprah’s involvement in the campaign didn’t end with the town hall; she also took the stage as a keynote speaker at Harris’ rally in Philadelphia, joining other high-profile figures like Lady Gaga. Despite the impressive lineup of endorsements and efforts, it wasn’t enough to sway the key battleground state.
The election results saw Donald Trump emerge victorious with 312 electoral votes, solidifying his path to the White House for another term. Oprah, known for her vocal support of the Democratic Party, has previously campaigned for Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, and she endorsed Hillary Clinton during her 2016 run.
While Oprah may not have discussed the election results directly, her statement underscores her transparency in the political sphere and commitment to supporting candidates without monetary involvement.
