Camila Mendes is turning heads with a bold new look! The 30-year-old Riverdale star revealed her freshly dyed red hair on Instagram on Sunday (November 10), giving fans a sneak peek of her transformation for an upcoming role.
“Just a newly minted redhead with a flight delay and an empty bathroom all to herself @colorbymattrez ,” Mendes wrote, tagging her go-to colorist, Matt Rez, alongside a series of striking selfies showcasing her vibrant hair on Instagram.
The dramatic change is for her role as Teela in the highly anticipated live-action Masters of the Universe movie. Teela, as described by The Hollywood Reporter, is “the captain of the royal guard and the adopted daughter of Man-at-Arms, the royal family’s inventor of weapons.” Throughout various animated versions, Teela has often suspected Prince Adam of being He-Man and has even been portrayed as a love interest to the hero.
With filming expected to start soon, anticipation is building for the movie’s release on June 5, 2026. The film boasts an impressive lineup, with Nicholas Galitzine stepping into the role of Prince Adam/He-Man and Alison Brie cast as a villain. Travis Knight, known for his work on Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, will be directing. As of now, additional casting announcements are still under wraps, but more news is expected as production kicks off.
Camila’s new red hair isn’t the only recent shakeup in her career. The actress had to step back from the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot due to scheduling conflicts with Masters of the Universe. Another star has been confirmed to take her place, though details are yet to be fully revealed.
