Jon Jones Reveals ‘Likely’ Date For Stipe Miocic Fight

Jon Jones’ title as the GOAT is well-deserved, despite his controversial personal life. Jones did the impossible and won the Heavyweight title at UFC 285. He’ll be defending his title against Stipe Miocic and now it seems Jones might have revealed when the fight will take place.

The Gane versus Jones fight began with an accidental groin kick from Gane, resulting in a brief pause. When the fight resumed, Jones responded with a powerful right hand, driving Gane against the cage and applying pressure.

Jones capitalized on an opportunity when Gane missed a punch, executing a takedown within a minute of the fight. Despite Gane standing up, Jones quickly brought him back down and attempted a guillotine choke.

Jones tightened his grip, forcing Gane to submit and earning an impressive victory to become the new heavyweight champion. UFC president Dana White subsequently announced that Jones will defend his title against Stipe Miocic. Jones himself appeared confident and resolute in taking on the upcoming challenge.

Stipe Miocic had previously mentioned that the fight with Jones could take place at UFC 290 on July 8 during International Fight Week. Jones also recently claimed to have been given a date for his first heavyweight title defense.

Jones stated that UFC 290 is “more than likely” the date for his bout against the former heavyweight champion. However, the 35-year-old fighter admitted to being surprised at how quickly the date was offered to him. He took to Twitter and noted how July 8 is the likely date for the upcoming fight.

More than likely, felt like that was kind of sprung on me. Need to talk with my team/UFC and come up with a plan.

Stipe Miocic has not fought in the Octagon since his 2021 loss at the hands of Francis Ngannou. We will have to wait and see whether Jon Jones will successfully retain his title against Stipe Miocic.
