Jon Jones was arrested on domestic violence charges back in 2021 in Las Vegas. This was something many fans found quite shocking. However, UFC President Dana White was not really surprised by the incident. Things have truly changed for Jones now, as he is now the UFC Heavyweight Champion and even got back his fiancee.
Due to his unfortunate actions, Jon Jones was banned from using the Jackson Wink MMA gym by coach Mike Winkeljohn. Jon Jones then blamed his misdeeds on his past trauma.
Police footage of his arrest in Las Vegas surfaced as well. In the end, Jon Jones’ fiancée of 9 years, Jessie Moses left him after his arrest in Las Vegas. Many fans felt Jones truly hit rock bottom at that point.
However, he turned his life around after beating Cyril Gane in the main event of UFC 285 in definitive fashion and becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Shockingly enough, Jessie Moses was there by his side for his fight last night and gave him support.
While speaking during the post-UFC 285 press conference, Jon Jones thanked his fiancée for all her support. He then hinted at redemption from his past misdeeds and becoming a better man.
“We all have our past, and thank God that he’s making me the man that I am today. Me and my family are better than we ever have been. I just thank God so much for him using me to let other people see that none of us are perfect, and that despite your downfalls, the sky is the limit for those who don’t give up, for those who know how to get down on their knees and pray. And I thank God for this platform. It means the world to me.”
Jon Jones will be defending his title against Stipe Miocic in his first title defence in the future. Naturally, fans are just glad to see ‘Bones’ back in action and in such great shape and spirit.
While his past actions cannot be ignored, Jones seems determined to redeem himself and become a better man. Fans can only hope that he continues on this path and stays focused on his future successes both inside and outside of the Octagon. What’s your take on Jon Jones? Sound off in the comments!
