Selena Gomez is one of the few celebrities who has been open about who manages her social media accounts including her Instagram which has 378 million followers. The relationship between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber is one of the most controversial since fans are still not over them as a couple. After receiving several harsh comments comparing her to Justin Bieber’s many lovers and a misunderstanding between her and Kylie Jenner Selena recently announced a break from social media but it now seems like she is back.

On Sunday, February 26 Selena Gomez returned to Instagram after stating that she would be taking a break from social media. Her post appeared to indicate that she didn’t attend the 2023 SAG Awards where she and the Only Murders in the Building cast had been nominated for Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy. She chose to spend the evening with Connar Franklin, an acquaintance.

“@connarfranklin is getting married! So Happy,” Gomez, 30, captioned a slideshow of pics featuring the bride-to-be in a cheetah print robe, feather boa, and tiara. Franklin posted a photo on Sunday showing the “Lose You to Love Me” singer among the group of friends she went wedding dress shopping with.

On February 23, Gomez announced in a TikTok Live video that she would be taking a break from social media referring to her ongoing online battle with Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner. “I’m gonna be taking a second from social media because this is a little silly,” the Rare Beauty founder stated. “I’m 30, I’m too old for this. But I love you guys so much, and I will see you guys sooner than later. I’m just gonna take a break from everything.”

The controversy started earlier this month when Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Justine Skye made subtle fun of the Disney Channel alum in a since-deleted TikTok video while lip-syncing to the line, “And I’m not saying she deserved it, but I’m saying that God’s timing is always right.” Gomez responded to another video where it was suggested that she was the subject of Bieber’s TikTok by saying, “It’s OK! I don’t let these things get me down! Be nice to everyone! x.”

After being accused by fans of shading the Hotel Transylvania star’s brows in another TikTok video, Kylie chimed in on the controversy. “This is reaching,” the beauty mogul commented. “No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow post! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.” Gomez showed appreciation for Kylie’s message, responding to The Kardashians’ star’s comment by writing, “Agreed @kyliejenner it’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!”

Gomez responded to a resurfaced video of Bieber in which the model pretended to gag upon hearing about Gomez’s BFF Taylor Swift the same day she declared her break. One month before the social media drama began, Us Weekly broke the news in January that Gomez had started dating Chainsmokers musician Andrew “Drew” Taggart.
