Batista has worked hard to establish himself as one of the greatest Superstars in WWE’s history, but his time in WWE was not always a bed of roses. The Animal certainly saw great success during his time in the company, as he went on to become a multi-time World Champion and a bona fide future WWE Hall Of Famer. In fact, Batista was very unprepared for his World Title win at WrestleMania 21.
Batista signed with WWE back in 2000, as part of the company’s development system Ohio Valley System. He spent about two years there, where he worked with the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Randy.
After joining Evolution back in 2002, Batista slowly became a fan-favorite thanks to a slow-burn feud with Triple H in 2005. It culminated in a match at WrestleMania 21, where he challenged Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Against all odds, Batista managed to defeat Triple H for the title and became the face of the company. The Animal took to Twitter and uploaded a video of himself reflecting on his major World Title win to commemorate his 54th birthday.
Although Batista ultimately succeeded, he candidly acknowledges that he was not really prepared for the accomplishment and the accompanying responsibilities that came with it.
“I can’t believe this is happening at this point, because this happened so fast, where I went from being a guy in the background who they never had any big plans for, to being the top guy in the company. Now I’m the flagship. Now I’m out here holding the belt and there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that. I was just so unprepared. I was not prepared for what was coming my way.”
Batista is also likely to get his WWE Hall Of Fame induction this year. Batista’s contributions to WWE will never be forgotten as he will always be remembered as one of the greatest superstars in the company’s history. We’ll have to see when Batista will return to WWE again.
