Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated from the 2022 NFL playoffs after a 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round. The team hasn’t bounced back from the void left by four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski yet. Tom Brady recently revealed that he was furious over Gronkowski turning down Buccaneers move In 2022.
The Buccaneers had a mediocre season in 2022, finishing with an 8-9 record and barely qualifying for the playoffs. With the team’s season officially over, one can’t help but wonder what went wrong. Especially after being named one of the favorites to win the Lombardi earlier in the season.
The Buccaneers’ defense has been called into question. The offense also had to shoulder some of the blame. Brady’s numbers fell in 2022 compared to the previous season, and much of that could be attributed to the numerous injuries sustained by his supporting cast.
Another notable absence was tight end Rob Gronkowski, who announced his retirement from the NFL in the 2022 offseason. Just days before their Wild Card game, Tom Brady appeared on the Let’s Go! podcast. He revealed that the Buccaneers attempted to entice Gronkowski back to Tampa Bay several times throughout the season. However, Gronk’s reluctance to return appears to have irritated Brady.
As much as I love having him on the show. I’d much rather have him on the field with me. So I’m a little p*ssed off at him that he’s on the show with me on a Monday morning and not on the field on Monday night, but I’ll get over it.
Whenever it’s ready for him, he knows that the team would roll out the red carpet for him. But I know we all tried multiple times starting from March on and you know he’s been enjoying the share of retirement. We’ll see what the future has for him in store.
The Buccaneers quarterback, on the other hand, insisted that the door was always open for the tight end to return. While it appears that Rob Gronkowski’s NFL career is over, the same cannot be said for Tom Brady. You can watch the video below.
