Fabolous has fallen from the commercial heights he once held but there’s no denying his contribution to the game. From his wordplay to his swagger and laid-back demeanor, Fab had the game under control at one point. Drake recently paid tribute to Fabolous’ influence and impact on his career.

Drake paid tribute to Fab on Instagram over the weekend. He credited the Brooklyn rapper with shaping his style and sound. The rapper shared two throwback photos of Fab from the early 2000s, saying he “wouldn’t be anywhere without this guy.”

Real sh-t @myfabolouslife was really just taking in how much you influenced everything for me.

In another story, he expressed his affection for 112. He added that he “wouldn’t be sh-t without this.” Drake hasn’t shied away from acknowledging Fab’s influence on him in the past. Drake dressed up as Fab for a birthday party in 2018, wearing a blue Kobe Bryant LA Lakers jersey, a matching fitted cap, and a bandana tied around his neck.

Drake and Fabolous previously collaborated on “Throw It In The Bag (Remix).” However, after Rolling Stone published an interview with Drake in 2014, there was speculation that they were at odds. In discussing Ye’s divisive Yeezus album, Drake appeared to take shots at Fab.

However, the Brooklyn rapper chalked it up to sensationalized media. Following the incident, Fab said he had a conversation with Drake, who apologized for bringing his name into the interview. You can check out Drake’s series of Instagram stories below.
