Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE on July 22nd, 2022. This came in the midst of a hush money scandal that was giving the company a ton of negative attention. A few months later, and Mr. McMahon is back as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is also ushering in a possible company sale, something that will change WWE forever. It seems one project was not derailed through this whole thing.

WWE announced in 2020 that they teamed up with Netflix to produce a Vince McMahon documentary. Bill Simmons was brought on to helm the project, but then word went around the whole thing was scrapped due to the hush money scandal. That is not the case at all.

While speaking on his Bill Simmons Podcast, the man himself commented on the docuseries about Vince McMahon. He confirmed that the series is still in the works.

“The Rock was going to be at WrestleMania in LA. With all this upheaval and all this stuff happening, let’s say they did try to go private and try to sell it to the Saudis. The Rock’s going to be at WrestleMania? This is going to dramatically change their business. There are things that they won’t be able to get away with, not to mention Vince hasn’t really spoken publicly about all the allegations and the NDAs that he signed and just all that stuff. We haven’t heard him talk about it. He can say, ‘I took a break.’ We probably won’t (hear him talk about it). That’s why I feel like he’s coming back to sell it, and then he’s out.

He probably just wants to cash in. I think it really probably did bother him, though, that things were going so well without him. Think about that. He’s had this thing. I’m working on this massive docuseries right now about him, which is, obviously, that keeps evolving. This guy has been doing this since 1976. This is his. This was a local promotion that he blew up into a whole thing, and I think he honestly kind of lost it, that it was doing well without him. You have something for five decades, and then, ‘Oh, it’s gonna fall apart now.’ It’s kind of like what we were talking about with Dana White. No, actually, it’s not going to fall apart. It’s doing better.”

Vince McMahon has received a ton of attention over the past several months. Vice released a scathing documentary called the “9 Lives of Vince McMahon” that followed several shady events throughout his career. It remains to be seen what other stories are left to emerge about Vince McMahon, but he had a lot of hush money going around for a reason.

We will have to see what is revealed in this new Netflix documentary.WWE will have a big hand in producing the upcoming documentary, so only time will tell what they wipe away from Vince McMahon’s history that others might focus on.

Let’s get to know each other. Me? Well, I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University, but I don’t really like to talk about that. I was a stand-up comedian for eight years, but I don’t really like to talk about that either. I write a lot. I once worked for a company that writes blurbs for online gambling games. Those paid $.75 each. So, if you frequent that kind of thing, then you’re welcome for the description for Biker Chicken Slots or Crazy Granny’s Scratchers. I wish I had more to tell, but due to my crippling anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, that has become increasingly worse over the years, I tend to keep to myself.
